About the Photographer

Kristi Molnar was born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario. After graduating from the University of Guelph, she made her way to Japan where the camera culture piqued her interest. Fascinated that the images she took spoke where words failed her, she pursued and honed her passion, taking classes at the renowned Maine Photographic Workshops.

Japanese Soul, her debut exhibition, garnered rave reviews when it premiered in Tokyo in 2001. In Japanese Soul the traditions, spiritualism and aesthetic simplicity of Japan were soulfully rendered through her lens. The exhibit has since traveled to Toronto, Windsor, Cambridge, Ontario, and to Vancouver, British Columbia.

When Kristi returned to Canada, she worked as a photographic assistant for The Scenario in Guelph and won first prize in Leamington Art Center’s Anything’s Possible photo contest. Shortly thereafter she founded invoke photography, thus named in hopes that her photos will stir or invoke as deep response from her viewers as they do in her when she takes them.

Inspired by a solo pilgrimage across Canada and the USA where she visited several National Parks, Kristi is planning two new exhibits, “The Naked Earth” and “The Journey Within.” Her work, in all of its forms, captures the beauty, majesty and solitude of the planet and those who call it home.

Most recently she won the Editor’s Choice Award from The International Society of Photographers in 2007 and 2008. Also 1 of her photographs has been published in a book called Collected Impressions.

Now based in Vancouver, BC, Kristi can be reached for sittings through email ( or call her at 778-996-3145.
